Genetic Testing at Durham Women's Clinic

We offer genetic testing for both our gynecologic and obstetric patients. These screenings can be used to identify carriers for a genetic disease, determine if a patient has an inherited predisposition to a disease, and diagnose disease.

 Knowing your hereditary risk for cancer is the first step in preventing cancer or getting an early diagnosis. Our Hereditary Cancer Quiz will help you determine if you might be a candidate for genetic testing. This quiz will help identify genetic risk factors for cancer and determine if you might be at risk for hereditary cancers such as:*

  • Breast Cancer

  • Colon Cancer

  • Ovarian Cancer

  • Pancreatic Cancer

  • Uterine Cancer

Our online quiz is designed to help patients identify if they qualify for hereditary cancer testing.  Patients should contact our office to schedule an appointment for a full evaluation to determine if testing is an appropriate option.

*The questions in the Hereditary Cancer Quiz are based on the clinical guidelines used to determine whether individuals should be tested for one of the syndromes associated with the cancers listed above. This is not a test, but rather a questionnaire to help determine whether or not an individual is at risk so that they can be prepared to talk to their healthcare professional about further evaluation of their personal and family history of cancer.
