Congratulations to Dr. Schreiber for being voted the Best Women's Health Practitioner in the Triangle!

On behalf of all the physicians and staff, we wish to take this time to thank you kindly. We appreciate you choosing Durham Women’s Clinic for your health care needs. Please read the following office policies.

Durham Women’s Clinic has two locations, one in North Durham, and one in Brier Creek.  We are accessible to women all over the Triangle.

Emergency Care/After hours

Please limit after-hour calls to urgent and emergency needs.

If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911. If you have an urgent medical situation call 919-470-4000 to reach the hospital operator to have the doctor or midwife on call paged for immediate assistants.

Office Hours

Our offices and telephones are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appointments are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Scheduling an Appointment

If you would like to contact us for an appointment, please call (919) 471-2273.

When scheduling an appointment, please describe your needs to our staff so that an appropriate length of time can be reserved for you. We also make every effort to see patients at scheduled appointment times since we realize that your time is valuable. If it appears that your appointment will be delayed significantly, our staff may choose to notify you by telephone so that you can choose to either keep your appointment time or reschedule it.

TRIAGE NURSE AND Telephone Calls

Our RN Triage Nurse is available during our office hours, Monday through Friday and is here to help assist and answer any questions or concerns you may have. She can help assist with referrals or same day appointments to see a provider. If you have concerns about medications, side effects, or you need any assistance with your prescriptions or refills, please call our Triage Nurse to assist you.

If you have routine questions, please call during our regular office hours. When calling with a problem or question, describe the situation in detail to our staff. This will help the physicians determine the nature of the problem and respond quickly and accurately to your request. Please make sure you leave a number at which you can be reached.

Request for Medications and Refills

Please try to request new prescriptions or refills at appointments when possible. Keep in mind that many pharmacies do not routinely carry all prescription drugs. Therefore, please try to call for a refill a few days prior to taking your last dose, to give the pharmacy a chance to order your drug. Also, please have your pharmacy’s phone number available. We discourage prescribing new medications over the telephone, since an accurate diagnosis is usually possible only with an office visit.

FORMS

Please print, fill out and bring these forms with you to your first appointment.

Fees and Payments

Our fees are based on the usual and customary professional fees for obstetrics and gynecology in the Triangle area. For services not covered by insurance, we accept cash, personal checks, VISA and MasterCard. For other payment arrangements, please see our office manager prior to your appointment.

NO-SHOW Policy

There will be a $50 charge for all NO-SHOW and missed appointments. You are required to give a 24-hour notice for all appointment cancellations. Insurance companies do not cover NO-SHOW or missed appointment fees, so this will be billed to the patient. You will be unable to reschedule your appointment until the NO-SHOW charge is paid in full.

Confidentiality

Your medical information is strictly confidential. We will not release your medical information to anyone without your written consent. A family member may, however, accompany you to your appointments if you wish. If you want a copy of your records sent to another physician, we will require a written authorization from you.
